Job Summary

The Finance Administrator (Part-Time) is responsible for managing the day-to-day financial components of the organization, enabling the ability to deliver industry-leading programming.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and monitor budgets and support ongoing budget management
  • Carry out all payroll functions with accuracy, attention to detail and confidentiality
  • Focus on the organization's fiscal activities including accounting, budget management and financial reporting
  • Manage financial components including:
    • Collaborating with the Operations + Programs team to pay invoices, track tuition, and manage scholarships and monitor budgets
    • Track, reconcile and troubleshoot expense reports and reimbursements
    • Monitor and manage credit card balances and bank account
    • Review and approve invoices, ensure payment and manage process
    • Initiate and review vendor contracts
    • Monthly reconciliation of budget
    • Contribute to + maintain finance-related Standard Operating Procedures
  • Manage relationships with key accounting partners
  • Report to work on a regular basis and is available for occasional after hours emergency calls and projects.

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in education, business, or related field preferred; or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in finance. A combination of time in finance, program administration, operations or development is also acceptable.
  • A successful history of creating and executing finance plans + processes
  • A high degree of professionalism and the ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong communication skills both written and oral.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to problem-solve, be resourceful, flexible, and creative.
  • Ability to understand and live the mission and brand of Surge and inspire diverse groups.

  • Dedicated remote work area that is quiet enough for employee to concentrate is required. Must have homeowner’s or renter’s insurance and the ability to comply with company technology, safety, and health requirements.
  • Ability to frequently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.
